Our Medieval Themed Wedding

August 5th, 2006

We are having a very nature centered, medieval themed wedding in the middle of the woods. The ceremony and reception will both be located in a remote area nestled among the trees. I have been busy creating decorations and other suprises, and will add photos as they are completed.

Favour Tags - These will be attached to potted herbs. Inside each tag is a description of the medieval uses and beleifs about each herb. Some of them are pretty neat. One even wards off demons. Fun stuff!

These are the favours for the children attending the wedding. They are actually dark green, but look black in this photo.

Our "Guest Book" - The painting is just an example of what the final wall hanging will look like, as many of the guests will never see the finished product. The fabric in this photo is hand-dyed, and will eventually be cut into leaf shapes for the guests to sign. I will applique them onto the wall hanging sometime after the wedding.

This is the Nature Chapel that my fiance and his father built. The arched tree is what attracted us to the area. We'll be hanging "dangly flowers" (probably white orchids on invisible thread) along the perimiter of the arch. I have an inspiration photo, but it's from a magazine so I'll have to scan it.

Pouched stones for our stone ceremony. The guests will each be given a stone, and will be asked to hold it for the duration of the ceremony, channeling their good wishes into the stone. At the end of the ceremony, they will place their stone into a large, handmade wooden bowl that will be placed at the back of our Nature Chapel.

My centerpieces and favours (the herbs will be potted in 8 pots surrounding the lantern, and can be taken home at the end of the evening.)

This is my fiance's jacket. It took over 20 hours to sew, and was a giant pain! It is lined in brown silk, which was the hard part to work with. It didn't help that the pattern was horribly written.

And for the grand finale, my gorgeous dress!
